Samsung has officially launched its latest foldable smartphones, the Galaxy Z Flip7 and the budget-friendly Galaxy Z Flip7 FE. Both devices feature One UI 8, which is based on Android 16, and introduce a variety of new functionalities and enhancements, particularly for the FlexWindow display.
The Galaxy Z Flip7 has undergone significant upgrades while maintaining a compact size. When folded, it measures 13.7mm thick and 6.5mm when opened. Despite its sleeker design, it boasts a larger 4,300mAh battery, an increase from the 4,000mAh used in its predecessor, the Z Flip6.
In terms of display improvements, the cover screen has expanded to a 4.1-inch edge-to-edge Super AMOLED panel that supports a 120Hz refresh rate and achieves peak brightness of 2,600 nits, a substantial upgrade from the previous 3.4-inch display. Enhanced features include Google Gemini AI integration, a customizable Now Bar, and an expanded selection of accessible apps. Moreover, Samsung has introduced Vision Booster technology for improved visibility in outdoor conditions.
The internal screen measures 6.9 inches, maintaining the Flip7’s portability. Samsung has ingeniously addressed the challenge of reducing the phone’s thickness through a redesign of the internal components and the incorporation of a 30% slimmer Armor FlexHinge.
Instead of sealing the bezels for waterproofing, the company has waterproofed the internal components. The phone features Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and an Armor Aluminum frame, receiving an IP48 rating for dust and water resistance.
Under the hood, the Galaxy Z Flip7 is powered by Samsung’s latest 3nm Exynos 2500 chip, alongside 12GB of RAM and storage options up to 512GB. Notably, there will not be a Snapdragon variant this time. The handset’s efficiency, combined with the larger battery, allows for up to 31 hours of video playback, and it supports both 25W wired and wireless charging.
Camera enhancements further distinguish the Flip7, featuring a 50MP main camera, a 12MP ultra-wide lens, and a 10MP internal selfie camera. It supports 10-bit HDR video, providing richer colors and enabling real-time filter previews on the cover screen. Convenient features like Auto Zoom and a Zoom Slider facilitate hands-free photography, utilizing the device in a half-folded position as a tripod.
For those seeking a more budget-conscious option, the Z Flip7 FE starts at $900 and offers 8GB of RAM with 128GB of storage. Its design and hardware are similar to the Z Flip6, featuring a 3.4-inch cover display and a 6.7-inch internal screen. It runs on last year’s Exynos 2400 chip and contains a 4,000mAh battery.
The camera specifications remain the same as the Flip7’s: a 50MP main, 12MP ultra-wide, and a 10MP selfie camera; however, the FE model does not support HDR video. It retains the IP48 rating and is available in Black or White.
Both models are now available for pre-order and are set to ship on July 25. Customers will also receive a six-month subscription to Google AI Pro, which includes 2TB of cloud storage.
